Summer 2015—Bruno Associates requested funding from the NDJEP Green Acres Program and was awarded $1,100,000 in grants for the Town of West New York’s Donnelly and Veteran’s Parks. The Green Acres Program administers funds to local governments and nonprofit land trusts to obtain open space and develop parks throughout the state. These projects that are approved by the Garden State Preservation Trust (GSPT) sets aside millions to provide funds for developing parks and recreational facilities, local land acquisition projects, preserving land and protecting the environment along with its wildlife. The Town of West New York intends to use its awarded funds to enhance both Donnelly Park and Veteran’s Park. These improvements will vary from fixing drainage problems, restoring bicycle and pedestrian paths, resurfacing courts, upgrading the playground, updating the landscape and adding two patios with game tables and benches.
